Bottles and diapers and wipes, oh my! Like most other moms, that's what I had to contend with when my daughter was born. Add lack of sleep and learning how to take care of an infant to the list, and exercise was the last thing on my mind.
During my first few months of motherhood, I lost some weight, but none of it was connected to exercise. As time dragged on, I was headed toward one of two places: either I could let my exhausting daily routine keep me overweight, or take action and lose the 40 pounds that I gained during pregnancy. I chose to commit to regaining my prepregnancy shape.
Reaching your prepregnancy weight isn't easy, but it's attainable. Part one of the challenge is having the will and discipline to exercise; part two is finding the time. Between a new baby, cooking, cleaning and running errands, where does exercise fit in?
Planning ahead is crucial. First, give your body time to heal after the ordeal of giving birth, then plan your workout schedule. While that may seem overwhelming sure, life with a newborn is chaotic look at your days carefully. You'll notice a pattern from which you can set aside time to exercise. Having a schedule on paper reminds you to follow through with your workout because it's planned.
Not yet convinced? Post it in a visible place, like the fridge, mark it on your calendar or include it in your planner. If you see it every day, your workout has a better chance of being something that you actually work to complete rather than something that you'll get to if the opportunity arises.
At the beginning, exercising every day may be too ambitious, so try to exercise two to three times a week. Eventually you can build up the frequency.
Use your baby's nap time for your workout. Many mothers (such as me) tiptoe through their chores while their babies are asleep. But it's okay to schedule those chores on your nonworkout days.
If you use the time to prepare dinner here's a suggestion: Ask your husband to cook a couple of times a week. Or, have a relative bring dinner over. If you're lucky enough to have a baby that naps for extended periods of time, like an hour or two, divide the time into part housework and part working out.
Working out at home while your child is sleeping is easy. If you have access to a treadmill, elliptical crosstrainer, stationary bike or any other type of fitness equipment, what are you waiting for? Use it. If you don't, get your hands on some workout DVDs.
Join a class
A great way to find the time to exercise as a new mom is to join a mommy and baby fitness class. Whether yoga or aerobics, call your local gym or community center, and ask about their fitness classes for moms with babies. Working out with other mothers and their children will provide the regular exercise you're looking for without having to be apart from your baby. This proves useful when you can't find a sitter. Exercising with your baby will not only strengthen the bond between the two of you, but it will also get you out of the house and socializing.
Get yourself an exercise buddy. Find a new mom that shares your fitness objectives. Together, create a workout schedule that works for both of you. It makes exercising easy and fun. Go for walks with the kids, whether using strollers or babycarriers. How about watching each other's babies while the other takes the time to exercise?
If exercising during the day is impossible, your best bet may be evenings when your partner is home to watch the baby. I know that after a long day it's probably one of the last things you want to do. I, for one, would rather crash on the couch and watch TV. But, if you want to get into shape sacrifices sometimes have to be made.
Keeping fit as a new mom is not just about losing weight. It's just as important mentally as it is physically. Make it a priority. Define your exercise time as "your time." After all, as a new mom you deserve it.

When diapers become soiled, they require changing; this process is often performed by a second person such as a parent or caregiver. My Current ProjectHow Do I Use a Nebulizer? To use a nebulizer, you will need the following supplies: Air compressor Nebulizer cup Mask or mouthpiece Medication (either unit dose vials or bottles with measuring devices) Compressor tubing Once you have the necessary supplies: Place the air compressor on a sturdy surface that will support its weight. Plug the cord from the compressor into a properly grounded (threeprong) electrical outlet. Before asthma treatment, wash your hands with soap and water and dry completely. Carefully measure medications exactly as you have been instructed and put them into the nebulizer cup. Most medications today come in premeasured unit dose vials so measuring is not necessary. If you do measure, use a separate, clean measuring device for each medication. Assemble the nebulizer cup and mask or mouthpiece. Connect the tubing to both the aerosol compressor and nebulizer cup. Turn on the compressor to make sure it is working correctly. You should see a light mist coming from the back of the tube opposite the mouthpiece. Sit up straight on a comfortable chair. If the treatment is for your child, he or she may sit on your lap. If you are using a mask, position it comfortably and securely on your or your child's face. If you are using a mouthpiece, place it between your or your child's teeth and seal the lips around it. Take slow, deep breaths. If possible, hold each breath for 23 seconds before breathing out. This allows the medication to settle into the airways. Continue the treatment until the medication is gone (an average of 10 minutes). The nebulizer will make a sputtering noise, and the cup will have just a little medication remaining. If dizziness or jitteriness occurs, stop the treatment and rest for about 5 minutes. Continue the treatment, and try to breathe more slowly. If dizziness or jitteriness continues to be a problem with future treatments, inform your health care provider. During the treatment, if the medication sticks to the sides of the nebulizer cup, you may shake the cup to loosen the droplets. Using a portable nebulizer is similar to using a home nebulizer, except that you don't need to plug it in. Most models are small enough to hold in your hand during use.

Moreover, check the decoration of the dresser. Ensure details just like its handles. A few have handles that can hurt the newborn. You need to avoid buying baby furniture dressers where the handles are protruding. Although during the first few months of your baby life these are not going to cause a problem. When the age and more mobile they could prove very unsafe certainly to them. Instead select dressers where the handles are sunk into the body of the door and drawers making it a lot more difficult for the baby to grab them.

It TMs not hard to see the connection between clean diapers and happy babies, but Baby Basics of Collier County goes a step farther with the premise that diapers and family harmony also go handinhand.
When you have to choose between diapers and food, food usually wins out, said Jean Ann Lynch, founder of the national organization and Naples branch president. The stress on parents struggling to put food on the table is bad enough without a constantly crying baby suffering from a painful rash because parents can TMt afford diapers.
Disposable diapers are necessary because cloth diapers aren TMt accepted by most day care centers or laundromats, required by working parents who can TMt afford their own washing machines, said Baby Basics Board member, Ann Schein. locations for 19 years.
Lynch and husband Dick started the Naples Baby Basics 6 years ago with 10 babies, now distributing diapers to 275. They currently have another 100 families on the waiting list.
We also provide parents with a place to just drop in and socialize, said Allie Tate of Naples Habitat for Humanity, one of eight local Baby Basics biweekly distribution sites. We want to show the parents kindness too.
About 160 participants raised funds at the Baby Basics Biking Walking Challenge at North Collier Regional Park this past Saturday. Participants had choices of walking or biking routes of anywhere from about 2 to 60 miles, collecting donations for the cause.
Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk, an honorary chairman at the event, rallied participants and thanked everyone for their efforts in spite of the unseasonable cold. Most shrugged off the weather goodnaturedly as they launched amidst the cheers of onlookers and antics of several entertainers donating talent for the day.
Event organizers hope Saturday TMs event, its largest fundraiser, will inspire others to contribute. All donations up to $25,000 will be matched due to the generosity of a local benefactor. One hundred percent of contributions go to the support of babies in need. Baby Basics recently celebrated giving out its one millionth diaper.

LOS ANGELES (AP) With fertility drugs, Angela Magdaleno had triplets three years ago. Last week, she had quadruplets without fertility drugs. Her two boys and two girls were healthy and doing well Wednesday after being born July 6 by Caesarean section in what doctors said was a rare occurrence of multiple births. Magdaleno, 40, said she was shocked when her doctor told her she was pregnant with four babies. "I didn't know what to do,'' she said in Spanish as she rested at home. "But now I'm happy because they're healthy and so am I.'' Still, she worries that she might be overwhelmed with the work and sometimes struggles with mixed emotions about the future. "I don't know if I'm sad or happy,'' she said. "I'm happy but, I don't know. I don't know how to explain it.'' Her doctor, Kathryn Shaw, a highrisk pregnancy specialist, said Magdaleno did well during the pregnancy and developed no complications. The babies were born at 32 weeks well beyond the 29week average for quadruplets. The two girls were larger than the boys. They weighed 4 pounds (1.8 kilograms) each at birth and were 17 inches (43 centimeters) and 17.5 inches (44.45 centimeters) long. The boys each weighed about 3.5 pounds (1.575 kilograms) and were 16 inches (41 centimeters) long. As of Wednesday, their parents were still deciding what to name them. Shaw said the odds of conceiving quadruplets without fertility drugs are about one in 800,000. She has seen only one other case of quadruplets being conceived without drugs 18 years ago. Even more rare, the boys appear to be identical twins, according to their doctor, Soha Idriss, who expects the babies will join their mother at home in about eight weeks. Three years ago, Magdaleno gave birth to her triplets after undergoing in vitro fertilization. She said her husband wanted many children. After their birth, she thought she was done having babies. Then she got pregnant with the quadruplets. "She wanted to run,'' said her husband Afredo Anzaldo, 45, who lays carpet for a living. When the quadruplets come home, Magdaleno will have help from two older daughters, Kelly Moreno, 17, and Stephanie Anzaldo, 15. All 11 family members will be living in a onebedroom apartment in East Los Angeles. Magdaleno said the living room is large and the babies are small, but she is not sure what the family will do when they get bigger. When the older girls are at school and her husband is at work, a friend has offered to help with the newborns and the triplets. All seven are in cloth diapers that have to be changed and laundered. "It's a lot of work,'' their mother said. In the hospital, the babies sleep wrapped in blankets and attached to monitors and wires in separate incubators. They have full heads of straight dark hair. Anzaldo took the couple's triplets to White Memorial Medical Center to meet their new brothers and sisters and to let Magdaleno get some rest at home. The triplets, Afredo, Catarin and Halily, were not sure at first if they wanted the extra siblings, Anzaldo said. "They wanted one baby and no more,'' he said. Since then, they have accepted their new brothers and sisters, Magdaleno said.AP
This informative article takes a closer look at things you need to know about multiple pregnancy.
There used to be a theory that twins skipped a generation, but now it is believed that twins are more likely to have a multiple pregnancy themselves. Obviously this is genetic, but it is a valid point to consider if you are a twin and want to become pregnant. Similarly, if your family history or that of your partner includes twins, then there is an increased chance that you will have a twin pregnancy as well.
Older women are more likely to have a multiple pregnancy. There is an increased ovulation of multiple eggs in older women and this can lead to a higher chance of the woman having a twin pregnancy. Fertility treatments can also lead to an increased chance of multiple pregnancies. It is also evident that women from African backgrounds are more likely to have pregnancies that are twins or more.
Having a multiple pregnancy can be very exciting. There is something special about having twins. If you have learned that you have a multiple pregnancy, there are some important considerations to keep in mind.
In a multiple pregnancy, the financial implications are more pronounced than in a single pregnancy. You will require two of everything two bassinets, two cribs, two strollers (or one double stroller) and many pairs of clothes. And because every baby is different, you will have to learn from each child individually when he or she needs to eat, or needs a change of diapers. A minimum of double the diapers and baby formula will be needed, and these expenses can add up very quickly.
Finances aside, a multiple pregnancy can take a toll on your sanity. Two babies equals double the crying and double the sleepless nights. Regardless if it a multiple pregnancy or a single pregnancy you will have to cope with crying and sleeplessness anyway. But one advantage of a multiple pregnancy is that you only have to go through it once, assuming you will not be having more children. For parents that have a single birth but desire more than one child, it will be necessary to endure the "terrible twos" more than once. A multiple pregnancy will also mean only one labor and delivery, and only one hospital stay.
Those of you not familiar with the latest on multiple pregnancy now have at least a basic understanding. But there more to come.
Medically speaking, a multiple pregnancy is automatically considered a highrisk pregnancy. Keep in mind, however, that most women successfully carry a multiple pregnancy with no unusual complications. Normal pregnancy ailments such as mood swings and back pain may be exaggerated, but in general you can expect the same symptoms and discomforts of a regular pregnancy.
Monitoring your nutritional intake is imperative with a multiple pregnancy. You will need to eat more, but avoid gaining an excessive amount of weight. It a delicate balancing act that will need to be discussed at length with your doctor. A general guideline is to increase your caloric intake by around 250 to 350 calories per day for each additional child you are carrying and increase the amount of protein you consume. A multivitamin might also be advised, but doubling the recommended dosage can be dangerous so seek the advice of your doctor before taking additional vitamin supplements.
In a multiple pregnancy, you will need to visit your doctor more often than during a single pregnancy. You will also need additional ultrasounds to closely monitor the development of both fetuses. In terms of delivery, a multiple pregnancy will usually end approximately two weeks before the normal due date. Most multiple pregnancy births are early. This is because the womb is stretched by multiple pregnancies quicker than during a single pregnancy, and the cervix then opens earlier than normal.
Before giving birth to more than one baby at a time, you must consult with your doctor about your delivery options. It is preferred to deliver through a normal vaginal birth, although a Cesarean section delivery could be recommended if there are any complications that could be a danger to you or your babies during a vaginal delivery.
You can predict when knowing something extra about multiple pregnancy will come in handy. If you learned anything new about multiple pregnancy in this article, you should file the article where you can find it again.
